Denver College of Nursing (DCN) is proud to announce its successful reaffirmation of accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This significant milestone underscores DCN’s ongoing commitment to excellence in nursing education.
This reaccreditation period also admits DCN into the Open Pathway, a track designated for institutions that have been invited based on their fulfillment of all Criteria for Accreditation, continuous accreditation for over 10 years, and satisfaction of other relevant requirements.
Following the scheduled on-site evaluation for reaffirmation with the HLC, the Institutional Actions Council of HLC concurred with the evaluation findings and voted to reaffirm continued accreditation for the campuses of DCN. The review team’s visit to the college in May 2024 included discussions with students, faculty, staff, and community partners from both campuses. The team concluded that Denver College of Nursing met all the standards set by the HLC.
“Continued accreditation is a significant honor for our institution,” said Denver College of Nursing President Mikal Powers. “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Nursing deans, faculty, and staff. This achievement highlights our commitment to delivering high quality nursing education and preparing our graduates to excel in their nursing careers and contribute positively to the healthcare community.”
The college’s next comprehensive evaluation is scheduled for 2034, with a mid-cycle review anticipated in 2028.
DCN has successfully graduated thousands of nursing students who now contribute to the healthcare field across Colorado and the U.S. The college offers a range of educational pathways, including on-campus Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Associate Degree in Nursing programs, as well as online Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing programs.
DCN remains dedicated to advancing the field of nursing through innovative education, clinical practice and research, fostering an environment that encourages academic excellence, professional development and a commitment to lifelong learning.
